Re: drift car

put a 300zx on the front of a 240! I saw it in the 240 section of af. it would freaking cool to build.
I agree with tonioseven. GO FOR IT

Re: drift car

ive never seen one dont mean there arent any though.i rekon go for it. might branch away from all the silvia/180 drifters that have been built.

(totally off topic: if anybody is looking for body kit inspiration go to www.takakaira.co.jp the site is all english but it totally devoted to imports)

Re: drift car

Z32 with R32 rear. that would look sh** hot. i remember seeing in a mag somewhere that there is a kit to do it same as the strawberry face (S15 front) conversion for the S13. might have to try and build a model like that myself.
so whens this 300ZX drifter getting built. im keen on progress

Re: drift car

There are a few Z32 drifters in Japan, one workshop I've forgotten the name of has a blue one with an SR20 in it.

Re: drift car

Bigger motor -> heavier front -> less agility -> unsuitable for any type of racing including drifting.
Same reason why JGTC supra uses the 3S engine.

Ahh, at first thought yes, that would be a valid response... But lets think about it like this; By going to the SR there is a considerable weight saving. The mass that remains ends up both further back and lower in the chassis than the huge, heavy VG30DET could ever be. The heat and space problems associated with the VG30 disappear, as do the maintenance problems. There is also room for as big a damn turbo as you'd like hanging off the side of the SR, end equally important room for a massive intercooler. The SR is a torquey performer for its size, and with a big turbo, camshafts, and other mods would provide ample power for a drift car or circuit car - for a drifter the power needs to be controllable more than simply abundant, and for a circuit racer, well you can only use as much grunt as you can get to the asphalt. And if the car is stripped out for drifting - well then the weight problem is getting smaller...Also apart from the camshaft rocker system which can become fragile spun at high RPM, the SR20 is cheaper to tune and better supported by the aftermarket outside the USA than the VG30DET.
The lower, more rearward, reduced weight of the motor also improves the Zed's already excellent chassis balance.

There are also instances of RB-series sixes in the Z32 300ZX.

answer your question, youngdrifter_x ?

Couldn't have said it better myself.... Didn't the Fairlady Z have a VG30DETT. The VG30DET can be found in the Cedric etc.

Re: drift car

eeek! yeah I left off the T. Sue me!
But for sure, the cedric/gloria/cima are the ones that run the single turbo VG30DET, whereas only the Three-Hun got the Twin Turbo VG30DETT donk.
