Lightbulb 1997 caldina 3s-gte into 1991 MR2

1st question everyone, is there and big differences in these engines? i found a 3s-gte from a 97 caldina for my 1991 mr2 and am going to pay someone else to swap if it will work. i am just curious to see what will work in advance so i don't look like a total fool in front of my mechanic. please help!!!

it should fit... it is the same engine as in the mr2 94+... remember that the mr2 was made up to 1999 in japan so they are sharing the same engine

Although the engines are most likely identical, but the MR@ has the engine in the back, there are some of the other items will be different ...

... a friend is in the process of puting a Celica 3SGTE into his MR2 and I know he is looking for the coolant neck (radiator cap) and all related piping for the MR2.

hmmm did this project ever go ahead? i'm considering doing the same thing, but the guys at the wreckers said the oil pans were different and a bunch of other stuff.... i don't see how the oil pan could be that much diff... they are both mounted the same way...

first of all im not a mr2 owner. im a celica owner. The caldina 3sgte engine is a great engine. I was gonna buy it for $2900 to swap it in my 94 celica but i heard you will need the factory fuse box from the caldina and the battery connector because the engine will not take the oem mr2/celica fuse box. At least that's what i heard from a guy that had the caldina engine in his 93 celica gt. So now his car is just sitting at home. Every thing for is car is ready, he just need the oem caldina fuse box and the battery connector. But anyways, you got to think about where you gonna buy engine parts when the engine is broken. This is just advice.

toyota sell the caldina gt4 here... nice car... still got the 3s-gte... so parts should be fine except that i wouldn't be able to just give them my VIN number for engine parts...
