Why The Hell ??!! The 3000GT engine can do what ever and as much as any Supra or 300Z engine can do the only thing i would switch about the vr4s engine for the supras would be the engine harmonics the supra sounds so NICEEEEZZ.:o

If you want a nice upgrade and your engine is blown I would go for the 345 hp Corvette Engine and the 6 speed manual trany. It will cost you the same but if you look further, a stock VR4 has 320 turbo aspired HP and a stock 98' corvette has 345 naturally aspired hp try droping a 20G twin turbo system for another 5 grand and your set with a 600 HP monster.

345? Eh... if you're gonna do a V8 conversion, there is a place online (you'd have to do a search) that will sell you a 700+ HP LS1 engine. Now, that'd be plenty of muscle. No turbo required.

However, I was wondering about dropping in that supra engine myself, the location of the turbos would be the #1 advantage for me.

A 3000GT can do anything a Supra engine can do?
Since when?
Never realized a 3000GT could handle 1000hp on stock internals.

I've heard the 3KGT fuel system blows...?

Theres one other little problem, Just where are you going to put it?

Go measure up the length and height of a 2jz and then see how well it will fit in the frount of a GTO.

And remember you have to fit the 4wd transaxle behind it.

Rare? You can buy a VR4 short block from ANY mitsu dealer. Cost you close to $3k. As for putting a VR4 engine into a base, no. 1) I doubt the transmissions would line up. 2) you'd need a new ECU. 3) the cost of the project would be so high, it'd be cheaper to sell the base and get a VR4. FAR CHEAPER.

You'd never get the AWD going. Only way it'd work is to cut/weld a new mount for the supra tranny... make the VR4 RWD, guess it'd be a VR2...

Anyways, I think this is a dumb idea anyways. Just like that guy that put a skyline engine in a Supra. Just doing stuff because you can.

I know of that being done on two different cars. I would have been cheaper to just buy a VR4, but if your up for the work, it can be done.

Just found this thread. I want to go ahead with a V8 conversion, but all I can find is a motor mount conversion kit. Any ideas on where to find a complete kit, or someone who has the done the swap? I've got about $6000 set aside for it. Should be enough?

Wink 3000 GT info

:monkeypis Cannot put a Corvette engine in a 3000 GT because the corvette engine sits front to rear and the 3000Gt (GTO) sits sideways. Do your homework first and stop talking bull before posting.
Now if you want to disturb the structural density of the car then yes it can be done. but make sure to put a role bar in it.

ANYWAYS Has everyone seen the new . Subaru Impreza WRX .
For a 4 cylider TURBO! It kicks out 227 HP at 6,000 rpms (redline 7,000)
It is a ALL WHeel drive and the pistons are positioned to go sideways instead of up and down. curb weight 3,085

It is the same car they use for the rally wow. I am a V6 lover but that 4 cylinder kicks but. and the best part is that the engine sits fron to back with the intercooler on the hood.
