Brake pad/rotor change

Can anyone please direct me to intruction on how to replace my front brake pads and rotors. I am a rookie with a 1998 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Thanks a lot.

Once the front wheels are off, there are 2 hex head bolts on the inside of the caliber. I want to say thet are 10mm heads but I am not positive. Loosen both of those and pull them out. Clean them and when putting them back in, add some anti sieze to them. Slowly wiggle the caliber enough to where the caliper will pull off (this can take some time). When you get the pads out, use a c-clamp and slowly open the caliper. You might need to take the cap off your master cylinder. Be sure to keep track of which pad goes where. This will help when you replace them. Lay the caliper in a place where it does not hang or pinch the line. Grab a rubber mallet and tap the inside of the rotor and follow all around until the rotor comes off. You can get new rotors cheap at AutoZone. I would also recommend ceramic pads for noise reduction. I hope this helps.

Its a 7mm hex (Allen) wrench.

you can also have the old rotors "turned" this usualy runs around $ 7 per side ( 14 $$ each ) or just go with new rotors, do make sure to cleanup the calipers with brake cleaner, you want the calipers do move freely on the slider bolts, if they hangup, then they can cause the brakes to pull harder to one side or the other, quite annoying with a 5500 lb SUV!

Barrys92, I think they will either be 12mm or 14mm. Those were the chioces for my 2000 Expedition. Excuse me if I'm wrong.
At your local hardware store they should sell repair manuals. I have Haynes Ford Pick-ups & Expedition 1997 thru 2003. Works great for me. It doesn't have much of anything about replacing rotors, but it does show you how to replace brakes so you should be able to go off those steps to replace rotors. I am in the process of doing the same thing, but hit a snag when I inspected the bearings (they were shot). Parts store was closed so I have to wait till I get off work. Priced the bearings at $9.95 each, wheel seals at $5.99 each and the rotors I bought at $33.88 each. I would go ahead and buy the bearings and you will probably need the wheel seals. Hope this helps.
