Wipers

Hi everyone,

My windshield wipers stopped working recently and I was looking for a little advice.

The motor sounds like it is working fine, but it isnt turning the wipers. The two wipers are still linked (if I move one, the other moves), and they move pretty easily. So there is something that isn't physically connecting right. So my main question is whether this is an easy fix for someone who doesn't really know what he is doing? I am thinking I might have to replace the wiper transmission, which I can probably get at a pull your own parts junkyard nearby (where I can also look at how it is installed etc). So if you could give me any advice relating to installing or fixing this problem, that'd be great... Anyways, I was thinking this would be a good opportunity to learn more about cars while also saving some money.

I appreciate everyone's help,

-joe

I am trying not to get car specific but my car is a 1987 Cadillac Deville, if that helps.
