87 Pontiac Grand Am Fuel pump
I am having problems with fuel pump fuses that blow as soon as I place a new fuse in place. This problem surfaced about a week ago. After must frustration I discovered that I had a blown fuel pump hose. I replaced with an exact replacement. I had no problems for about 3 days. Blew another fuse. R&R the fuse again. Was able to get car started to get me home from work. Checked the fuse once again as soon as I pulled into my driveway. Turned off the ignition key. The fuse had blown again.
Do I need a new fuel pump? Also my oil lamp stays lit whether I have the key in the ignition or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Automotive electrical problems drive me batty. Thanks. |

Re: 87 Pontiac Grand Am Fuel pump
I believe that the car has switch to kill the power to the fuel pump in the event of low oil pressure...there is a sending unit on the side of the block on the firewall side. The unit is probably bad and causing this problem. But im not sure why the light is on with the key off...you might have a relay that has been improperly wired or is faulty..
