any help on 1990 st

okay heres the deal i am buying a 1990 toyota celica st. i am wanting to turbo it and i was wondering what the horsepower max is for the internals...any help. also i am thinking about maybe a swap but i don't think i could do the all trac swap because of the four wheel drive... so what other engines would be a good upgrade? and what does a stock st top out at?

Re: any help on 1990 st

You shouldn't jump into serious mods. start with a cold air intake (not a fake one) then get a high performance muffler to keep the air flowing. You need to redo the entire exhaust because the stock is 1.5 inches in diameter, you should upgrade to a 2.0 or 2.5 inches. You might want to consider borring out the 1.6 to a 2.0 and get oversize pistons. Machine shops are able to do this. And definetly replace the cheap oem horn they suck. Do those things first. I think w/o the mods it tops out some where around 110mph and w/ the things ^^^ about 130mph.

i say just get a t25 turbo, intercooler, some bigger injectors, and an safc. and run the shit out of it
you can have a custom manifold made at a&l for a 12 pack and get some turbo supra injector maybe?
(im still going to blow your doors off!!!!)

wow understatment of the year...110? i do 110 in 4rth gear on my st..... how do u figure that? ive hit close to 135 but cant ever tell cuz the spedometer only goes to 120 and my shit hits way past that...

if u read in the manual of ur celica it even says that the maximum allowable speed for each gear is

1st- 32
2nd -58
3rd- 96

but stops there.... so if 3rd goes to 96 how does it top out at 110...just curious...not tryin to be an ass or nething

i have a 1990 celica st.....ive hit around 85mph in 3rd gear reving at about 4 1/2 thousand rpm's. this means that the car can go alot faster....but reading online, i have seen that the car really only maxes out at 117mph.. you cant forget the car prolly can go faster, but there are speed limiters that regulate that. look online becasue there is a way to remove this.....but as far as stock goes....117 is max
