Should I buy a chipped ECU?

Looking to buy a P28 ECU for my D16y8 swap, and I've found several on e-bay. However, I was curious if I should buy a stock one, or should I get one that's been Skunk2 chipped? Since the fuel curves are adjusted and all that, will it affect my emmissions?

If you know what the air/fuel curves are like on the program, and that's what you want, I say fine, go ahead and get the chipped on.

I personally bought an unchipped ECU cause I want to be able to program it later when I might be using a turbo or something of that nature... otherwise I don't see the need to chip.

And from what I've seen of most programs for ECU's, a lot of them seem to run rich at low RPM, and I don't like that off balance... and that probably does affect your emissions.

Well, those chipped ECU's are just generic settings, advanced timing and running a little richer. If you're gonna chip your ECU have it chipped by someone so they can adjust it according to your mods. That way you just won't be wasting your gas, and you'll get real results.

By the way, I just received my Z6 head complete with studs, FPR and vtec solenoid. So now Iam wondering where to start?? maybe get the head ported and polished? Anybody know how much this would cost??
