You can pretty much fit any other VW engine in to it: 16V, 8V, 20V turbo, VR6, or stick with the G60, which would be the easiest, otherwise you will need the computer and wiring harness from whatever else you put in it.

A lot of people put the VR6, but it can get expensive, and you can get more HP per dollar on the G60.

Exclamation

Well, as stated before you can drop in almost every VW or Audi motor. Ofcourse the best that you could do would be to have the Audi S3 engine installed, but that would be quite expensive... it is a very good engine with lots of Hp and can be easily -and "cheaply" tuned to 300bhp .....well I do not know how much money you want to invest on your car. The other option is to install the "key" engine of the VAG group, the 1,8l 20v turbo with 150 or 180bhp... Great engine....and also very easy to tune up(up to ~200hp with not much money).... Finally you can turn your G60 motor to 16VG60 at about the same cost of buing and instaling the 1,8t....In the last case you will need lots of patience and a machine shop with really good knowledge on VW motors*... my opinion is that the last case is the best as you will need no mods to the wiring of the car, no other Ecus etc... and you will also have 210bhp with the stock pulley and standard program!!! Also easy to tune up from there on (210bhp+); smaller pulley, other program etc...

*you will need some other things too... should you be interested just drop a line and i will give you details

Unfortunately I'm more of an enthusiast than a mechanic, so I don't know much about engine swaps, but you may be able to find some good help on the Corrado Club of America's discussion page:

Re: engine swap

SORRY ABOUT THE LATE REPLY.
well, it is not a simple task to do this conversion, for sure you will not be able to do it yourself.
since you have the g60 engine, you have the most basic things for this conversion, i.e. the compressor and the fuel/ignition system allong with the assosiated wiring. so after you have the motor back from the machineshop, you just drop in the engine, connect the cables and there you go...vroooommm...
you will have to buy a complete 1,8 16v engine(no wiring or fuel injection though). this engine here in Greece costs about €500-550.you can calculate how much will that be in usd.
you can not fit only the 16v Head to your g60 block as the compression ratio drops too low. you will use the 16v block, crank, conrods and head but you will need new pistons (forged) so as to drop the compression down to 8,8-9,0:1. the guys at the machineshop told me that the stock conrods will work fine with the extra hp and so i used them, but should you want to change them, that will be for the best. the stock cams will also work fine with the comressor. after you have the motor back from the machineshop, you will have to install the compresor and the alternator, but should this be difficult for you, let them do it for you.
you will also have to have the holes of the injectors of the 16v machined, so that your injectors can be installed. i think that for you it will be quite easy. for me it was very difficult to do the mod as i had the 16v and had to buy a whole g60engine with fuel injection/ignition system and assosiated wiring loom, ecu bla bla bla, had to remove the old wiring and install the one of the g60... well have to go now, will be back soon for more.

Re: engine swap

well, there is also an other way ....
you can buy only the 16v head of the 1.8 16v engine, and you will also neeed the inlet manifold of that cilynder head; it comes in two pieces. in this case you will also need new pistons to achieve a compression of 8,8:1. should you do it this way, try to find the upper part of the inlet manifold from a 16v scirocco, since it has the trotle body on the right side and it would make it easier to install the alternator and the pippings.
i think though that it will be easier to find a complete 16v motor than just the nedded parts.
anyway, you can find details on this conversion on the following site:
www.gtiworld.fsnet.co.uk, you will enter the site, click on "Technical"
and in the "Modifications Explained" section the last article is "16v g60".
in this site you will find also tons of info for other things.... This site gave me the idea of making mine like this...

well my oppinion is that after you read carefully what is written on that site, and having in mind what i have told you, pay a visit to your local machineshop and explain to them what you want to do. they will give you accurate info and details about what you will need and what the cost will be, as what i have told you and what you will find in that site are just a basic guideline. they will help you for sure. Maybe they will find a different way to make this than that of the guys at my machineshop. in any case keep me informed.. i will be very glad to help in any way that i can, and i will be even more glad to hear that you did it finally...

Ok i still want to do the 16v conversion on my corrado and taking in what 16vg60 said it won't be to easy but bahn brenner now makes a g60 to 16v conversion page i checked it out it told me the parts i need and then i need the supercharger intigration kit check it out it seems like the easiest/least painful way to do it http://www.bahnbrenner.com/bbmservices/16v.html
