What would you do with your hard-earned cash?
There is a pretty nice '93 9C1 caprice near me in relatively decent shape. It has 2 small rust holes which should be easy to fix, bald tires and 123,000 on the odo. The car has no back seats, but other than that it seems to be pretty nice. The engine is the smaller 305ci 5.0L rather than the LT1 or 350ci 5.7L, but still a pretty nice engine with minor tuning. I haven't had my mechanic check it out yet either. The price is $800. I'm not sure if I should get this or hold out for one of the cars I really want that are listed on the pole.

Re: What would you do with your hard-earned cash?
for a tuner car, i voted for the mr2. i love those things. but if you're car is a daily driver, i have to back up my once pride and joy, the prelude type sh. great daily driver car. it isn't fast, but decently quick. awesome handling though which makes it a blast to drive. you'll get silly little kids tryin to race you simply coz it's a honda, but at least it's the classiest of the bunch.

I'd take the (95/96) 240SX over the Prelude cos it's RWD. Both good cars though

Re: What would you do with your hard-earned cash?
i would take the 240sx out of any of those cars. but if you were getting a newer mr2, i would choose that. i dont like caprices because they look like undercover cops and they freak me out when i see them going down the interstate.

This seems like an odd comparison...the other cars seem to be tacked on for no apparent reason...

Quote:
93 9c1 This car is somewhat what I want. As you can see the rest are all relatively small sport compacts/sports cars and this car is an odd ball. I love how they look for some reason and it's cheap. Probably the majority of the reason this car is even being considered is because it's a more tangible possibility since I've touched this car and can definitely buy this car today if I wanted to. I don't want to settle for it, but waiting to be able to purchase another worthy candidate is very hard when you are currently driving a teal cavalier with 272,000 miles. 91-92 Toyota MR2 Turbo The best handling car listed; hands down. Great looks and they can be had for decent prices. Great reliability and awesome straight-line speed and cornering agility in stock form. 2-seats and cop-attracting looks make this car slightly less desireable, but I can't deny loving this car. 95-96 Nissan 240SX SE The car I've obsessed about for 4+ years now. A tuner-friendly vehicle with great potential if you increase the engine's poor output. Great styling and neutral handling. A very sharp looking car to boot . This car would be a hands down choice, but the price makes it just another contender since getting my hands on $5k+ is a little challenging since I want the car this summer/fall.89-91 Mazda RX7 and 91-93 Nissan 240SX SE These cars were listed because they are very inexpensive to aquire, are fairly common and are very suitable for modification, but are capable cars in stock form also. They may not be insanely fast or have very unique styling, but they are good enough for how cheap they are. The RX7 is a bit faster (both turbo and n/a), but the 240sx looks better...so it's a toss up. 99-01 Prelude SH The main reason this car is on the list is because it is one of the few newer used cars that I could bear to drive and would appreciate it. I have also considered the Lexus IS300, but it has a higher resale value currently so despite the lower insurance because it's a 4-door it really isn't a good value for me; plus it doesn't look very stylish. Another car I've considered is the Acura Integra, but they are everywhere. A 350z or RX8 would be nice, but they are out of my price range. I welcome other possibilities, but most any car I can think has been ruled out because of either high insurance costs, high maintenance/running costs or high purchasing costs.

Well all the times that you have helped me I well finally be able to repay you...
My picks are as follows... 1.Toyota MR2 2.Nissan 240sx 91-93 SE 3.RX-7 FC OK just because I put the MR2 on the top of the list doesn't mean it is the best...it has great handling and speed but if you want to drift I wouldn't recommend it. I put the Nissan 240sx second because they are reliable, handle well, and are a very good project car...plus with all you know about 240sx you know that it has lots of potential with the SR20DET engine swap. The FC is last because I heard rotaries are really hard to work on...though I do like them for there speed, handling, and 50/50 weight distribution they are hard to work on. I SAY YOU SHOULD GET A NISSAN 240SX YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT IT THEN THE OTHER TWO! -nissan240sxdude |

Re: What would you do with your hard-earned cash?
it's toss up between the rx-7 and mr-2. a 96 240 comes in after that. i'd probably go with the MR.

Yeah...I think the caprice isn't the right car for me and I probably shouldn't settle for it now because I'll probably regret it later. I think at this point I'm looking for an mr2, but if I find a nice s14 240sx first then I'll get that. An RX7 or older s13 240sx would be nice while saving though.
