Would you be extremely unhappy if I said there are only two real photos floating around on this car wearing that paint scheme and both are not only small, but also happen to have been taken from roughly the same angle making them essentially the same exact photo?

Sadly that is the case, but all is not lost. I do have these images below of someone's custom UT 1/18th scale GTR which seem pretty accurate and also seem like exactly what you are planning to do. Click each thumbnail for an 800x600 res version of each pic.

Ignore the "LM" logo he left on the back. The only thing that seems to be missing from that one are the three Yellow "GTR" crest logos across the top of the wing.

Here's the real photos I referred to earlier.

Oh, and I almost forgot, but there is a company here in the US called AutoBarn Models that produces various rare GTR liveries in 1/43rd scale. They have produced a version of the '96 GTR in it's promo livery and I can share some photos of that too.

The last one is rather large, so I've linked it as a thumbnail as well.

If there are any other photos of this car (or a diecast) out there wearing this livery, I haven't seen them and would really appreciate if someone shares what they have.

Briliant. Thanks alot for those. They will really help. I have come across the Autobarn models at various shows and also on ebay. They are extremely well detailed but somehow the overal shape of the car looks wrong to me - I think the roof line is to high. The minichamps ones look a better shape.

You don't have a contact for the guy who did the 1/18th model do you?

Thanks

I hadn't noticed a problem with the AutoBarn cars, I guess I'll try to compare the two side by side next time I see one.

Unfortunately, I don't have a contact for the creator of the 1/18th scale car. It was something that was offered on Ebay a long time ago and I happened to save the pics because I thought it was unique.

You might be interested to know that the designer of this logo scheme, and the liveries found on several other F1 GTRs, has posted here in the past. He informed us that McLaren Cars was not as pleased with this design as they had been with others, hence the reason it didn't last very long.

Thanks for the compliment.

I've been here about a year now and have learned a lot from many of the other members. I've always tried to share the best information available in my posts, all the while pursuing as many avenues for new info as possible. Its a true labour of love with these cars and this entire group.
