Elect. cargo doors won't open
We cannot get our double cargo back doors to open. When the key is inserted, there is no elec. connection sound. We haven't been able to use back area in several months. Afraid to take it to dealer, can see huge bill. Don't understand why there is no inside lever to open with. We checked all fuses, they're fine. Please help.

Re: Elect. cargo doors won't open
Researching similar problem, have traced to relay that is within 'hidden' storage area in right rear of 1997 Astro van with dutch doors. Began as repeating clicking in dash when 'open rear' button pushed. This past week have had 100% dead battery every morning; friend ran electrical check and found constant 6volt draw via the 50amp fuse marked 'battery' inside the hood compartment. Pulling the silver 'fuse' under driver's dash had no impact on draw ... cut off ability to open rear doors but still had the 6volt constant draw. Visiting junk yard and will advise as to status of repairs. Friend has considerable experience with car repairs (restores Corvairs as a money making hobby). At his suggestion I spent $14.95 tonight at AutoZone for an Astro repair manual since my vehicle approaching 8 yrs and 120,000 miles.
