if your looking for a 'drift' car and dont want a corolla, then go look at 240sx's. An MR2 is not an ideal 'drift' car. The mid-engine layout just doesn't lend itself well to drifting. I'm not saying it CANT be done, just wouldnt be my first choice.
As far as engines go, theres nothing wrong with a usdm 2nd gen engine. The 3rd gen engine isn't some magic engine. stock for stock then 3rd gen may outperform a 2nd gen engine, but with the right upgrades the 2nd gen can easily hold its own with the 3rd gen. And without the cost and headaches of a swap involved.

Re: Help On Mr2!

Iight thankz! so the 2nd gen eng is gewd 2. Is thur such thing as twin turbo stock mr2 in america? see i deno much about mr2 haha.
Is ther n e other rwd car around the price of a mr2 or 240? cause i can name about 10 friends who have 240's.
About the mid-eng, Yea i did hear about its diffrent in way cause its mid eng but yea it can still be done. So i can get a stock turbo 2nd gen and upgrade it then i can take thoes mr2 3gen. but drifting isnt about all power n e way...its about skills!

Re: Help On Mr2!

Wow.. all i gotta say... umm, 1st ill answer a question that you didnt answer, its English 101.

1. No such thing as a stock twin turbo, we have Twin Entry Turbos, which is different.

2. If you dont know much about the car, research it.

3. There are many RWD cars you could get, the RX-7, the 300ZX, the Miata, etc....

4. As for "Dry street drifting" just because a car is RWD doesnt mean its a good drift car. RWD on its own is a different driving experience, if you arent careful you can spin your car into a tree. I'd hate to hear of another MR2 destroyed because kids wanted to go out drifting in it without knowing the car.

The MR2 isnt as forgiving as most RWD cars because its mid-engine. You really have to learn the car. Seriously, if you're just gonna buy, rice, and attempt to drift a car, just stay away from the 2. Get something cheap that you can afford to wreck because you probably will while learning to drift.

Get a S13 until you're serious about sports cars. The MR2 is great at cornering but thats during grip.

Got english?

Unless you know how to drive properly, don't get an MR2 turbo. They like to kill people.

Uhm. I would like to see you back up that statement.

First of all, the MR2 is an incredibly safe car - particular for it's size.
Trsut me I know. I gaurantee you will not find anyone who has been through more MR2 accidents than I have been through during my younger years.

Secondly, of the number of people who have died in MR2s, most of them were not in the turbocharged version.

Notice a lot of those accidents were in the first generation MR2 - the least powerful MR2 made.

Re: Help On Mr2!

Jekyl, allow me to rephrase: They like to TRY and kill people Which you just backed up for me.

Either way, don't get an MR2 for your first car, especially if you haven't even grasped 3rd grade english yet.

For heavens sake, please dont talk that way! = ) Don't get an mr2 to drift and dont get an mr2 to drag race with. They are not meant for either.
