I think AutoZone will check the sensor codes for free to see what is causing the sensors to come on and even clear them for you. Give them a call...

Re: Check engine light, abs, low trac lights

A bad wheel speed sensor will cause the ABS light and the TCS light to come on, don't know about the check engine light. I have the same problem, mine's a bad L/F wheel speed sensor...

Re: Re: Check engine light, abs, low trac lights

it is one of two things, you either have one of your front hub assemblys
going bad, or one of your 02 sensors is faulty. sounds crazy but
a 02 sensor will turn on all these lights, and a hub going bad.
seen it quite a few times,(work in business)

Re: Check engine light, abs, low trac lights

Also as a suggestion , if the car used its abs in a very slippery very serious situation were it worked harder than ever it can deactivate itself and stay off untill it gets serviced. I also noticed that some people who use there E-brake excessively it screws with the trac wheel spin sensors and as a safe mode will stay on to annoy you till it gets serviced.
Some of these parts and computer controlls are finiky , I think jcl27 might agree or not. The o2 sensor does do alot things too and is a main cause for most Check Engine light problems. does anything i said make sense jcl?

Why not the rear hubs? A speed sensor problem front or rear can cause all of these lights to come on! A bad O2 sensor will not make the ABS light come on. Especially the rear O2 sensor which only montiors the cat performance!

Since you work in the business you would know that the PCm controls the traction system. The wheel speed sensors send speed data to the PCM and the PCM adjust timing, shut down cylinders and apply ABS brakes to stop a loss of traction. If the PCM loses speed data it will disable traction, turn on the SES light with the code for PCM inhibited traction control.

Re: Re: Check engine light, abs, low trac lights

for one i never said i was a certified master tech, i am giving advise
and ideas to help,i am a six year chevrolet ,olds ,pontiac ,buick and
gmc truck service advisor, and yes a faulty 02 sensor can and
will trigger the abs and trac off and check engine light at the same time.
(same circuit, do some research. i am just offering some suggestions.
and yes i do agree with you that it could be a rear speed sensor.
front hub assemblys are a very common problem with the grand am

Re: Check engine light, abs, low trac lights

I have never seen a faulty O2 sensor cause a ABS light to come on would you care to explain it to me, I'm kinda lazy right now! Give me some doc id numbers and I will look at them!

I am not trying to offend you, just wanted to know more about you! Sounds like you have a decent size dealer!
