trouble accelerating

After my '88 Cutlass Siera has been running for a while, it has difficulty accelerating. This is true whether I'm looking for an extra burst of speed to pass a vehicle, or if I come to a stop and try to get back up to cruising speed.
Then, when I was stuck in stop and go traffic, the car repeatedly stalled.

Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks.

Sounds like it has something to do with your fuel line. I'd check your fuel pump and/or filter. Good luck!

I've addressed all those things. In fact, the fuel pump was changed a few months before the problem developed. At first, a mechanic thought the problem was because the coil pack wasn't firing so I replaced that. It worked for a few days then the problem developed again. I've found other postings in here that generally tie the symptoms -- loss of acceleration, stalling -- to the coil pack not firing because of the crankshaft position sensor. Hopefully that that is the root of the problem, and can be easily fixed.
