Hi from Sydney

I am new to the forum from Sydney and wanted to say Hello. I own a 97 Nissan s14a 200sx with a few mods and am getting into drifting. Had my first attempt at Oran Park raceway and enjoyed the thrills.

Re: Hi from Sydney

What engine comes in that? Our version is called a 240sx and has the NA KA24DE in it... Do you have SR20DET or CA18DET?

Re: Hi from Sydney

Lost it quite a few times and was a bit intimidated by the crowd, didnt stay within my limits at first. Went out the second time and blocked out the crowd and concentrated on me and the car. Had a couple of good slides but not long drifts. Learnt so much about the car, my reactions, confidence and just had a lot of fun. Will be going out to a skid pan wet and dry session soon which I shall enjoy with more confidence and some knowledge

Re: Hi from Sydney

How's the down under drift scene? Aussie's seem to have a much better take on cars than people in the u.s.

Re: Hi from Sydney

The down under drift scene is pretty good. We've had drift comps running for about 6-odd years now, we have a national series, and its sanctioned by our peak motorsport body, CAMS.
There are drift days at most of the smaller circuits around the country on a regular basis too.
Also, since we have a large import industry from Japan, that side of it has helped it grow, but also most aussie cars worth mentioning a mid-sized, rear wheel drive, and comparatively powerful so thats helped too, not to mention a large range of 70's/80's rwd jap cars being sold here.
There aren't so many street/parking lot drifters or wannabes as I get the impression America has (you don't see a lot of aussies asking if they can drift their FF shopping car), not meaning to start anything by that. Though you are likely to find drift in remote industrial estates on a regular basis...
Our compact car aftermarket scene is a lot different, generally it has been very much no-frills performance based equipment, so theres hardly the explosion in rice here that there is overseas, though its certainly there...
We also have good access to second hand japanese parts, like wheels, suspension, engine/turbo stuff, so that helps make it affordable.
