Post Should we respect our teachers?

Today, I was at school in my oceanography class and was doing the usual work. While my class was taking notes, one of my classmates asked a question to the teacher. She tells "him" to look it up himself because she has had enough us complaining to her about what is everything. And one girl all of a sudden speaks out and says "Why are you telling me instead of the rest of the class?" My teacher replies in saying, "No I am talking to the rest of the class." And the girl replies "But no you are looking at me while you were talking." My teacher just decides to tell her to leave the class and go outside and to bring her belongings. I don't what was up with her but my classmate decides to purposely take her time packing all her belongings. So my teachers just tells her to get out without her belongings. Before she leaves she says "Jesus fucking Chirst" and "Bye guys." and some of the class starts to clap to support our classmate. My teacher ask why we clapped. And then she decides to stop teaching for the day and makes a quiz for the rest of the class for tommorow. Sorry to tell about this but who should I support my teacher or my classmate?

Sounds like the teacher was just having a bad day man, it happens to everyone. Hopefully she'll straighten out by next week.

Re: Should we respect our teachers?

Maybe I don't understand the situation completely but it sounds like the teacher was kinda out of hand in this situation, she probably could have handled it better. But then again maybe she is justified in her action. Tough call, but really in most situations I have seen the teacher usually is doing the right thing, but there are always exceptions

Everyone has bad days man. Maybe she has issues off school that are bothering her, she should seperate the 2 but sometimes people aren't capable of that. Just give it a few days, I am sure it will pass.

Re: Should we respect our teachers?

PMS, a bad breakup (bf cheating or something), problems with parents/friends/family, money troubles, anything like that can get someone into a bad mood for a bit of time. Just stay outta her way, you cant do anything about it.
It sucks, but, thats just the way things go.
If she keeps it up for more than 2 weeks, then, there could be reason to try and tell her your concerns, and if she shoots you down, talk to the principal....or have your parents talk to the principal. If your in Uni/college, talk to the dean of that department.

Most of the time, my teacher will try to purposely embarass a student in fron t of the class to either discilpline them or to shut them up. But she has been doing it more often.

Re: Should we respect our teachers?

It sounds like your teacher isn't doing her damn job. A teachers job is to teach... if a student has a question then she should answer it. That's what her job description is all about. If all teacher's did was tell us to look shit up on our own then we wouldn't fucking need them to teach us - we'd just go look it up by ourselves.

Re: Should we respect our teachers?

No, you don't need to respect SOME teachers.

Thats because we don't need no education, we don't need no thought control.

All in all, you're just another brick in the wall.

(C'mon, someone was going to say it before I did).

Re: Should we respect our teachers?

Do you really need to be asking a question like this to an anonymous internet board? Is that a good place to get moral structure and determine right from wrong. I'm fairly sure you had your mind made up before posing the question.

And no, don't respect people out of course or because of their position. Respect them because they earn it.
