99 jetta fan problem

My girlfriend's jetta has a problem with the passanger side fan in the engine compartment. It looks like the fan fell off it's track or something and is riding on the shroud. It's more or less jammed on the shroud. I can hardly move it with my hands. My question is has this happened to any of you? How hard of a fix is it? Where can I get cheap relpacement parts from, a junk yard mabey? I'm assuming the fan motor is fried too because there was smoke coming from it earlier today. I normally spend time on the Subaru side if the website. Any help from you guys would be greatly appriciated.
