really high oil pressure

my oil pressure goes to 80 and will keep climbing if i don't let off the gas, thats when im driving it nicely. what causes oil pressure to go to high? and my oil is milky as hell, i just changed the head gasket, so does that mean that the head studs got loose or something?

If your oil looks milky I would say that there is coolant getting into it. If you just changed the hg, then more than likely it was an installation error. Did you torque bolts to facotry spec in correct order because that is very important. Also did you make sure that the gasket mating surfaces were very clean?

Re: really high oil pressure

i just reinstalled the whole head again. this time i cleaned the surface a lot, and it is torqued down to factory specs, with the pattern. im going to finish the install tomorrow, so hopefully i did everything right. if i did is this going to fix the high oil pressure problem?

Honestly, I have never head of an oil pressure issue relating with a hg. I suppose it is possible, I have seen stranger things. Let us know what happens with the oil and the pressure. Did you use a new gasket? You usually dont want to reuse them becuase they get crushed once you put them on once.

Re: really high oil pressure

i reinstalled everything, i don't think theres any coolant in the oil anymore, but theres a lot of smoke comming form breather hole. and it idles like crap and sometimes itll stall. the timing is right. i was boosting 9psi on a stock ls. what could have broken?

if you got the head gasket on upside down then it could raise oil pressure and starve your head for oil.... the holes in it are slightly off center....... very bad thing to do.....
