I have a 2002 elantra GT, 5speed, which started having a "flat spot" at around 4k rpm. it started around 1800 miles. I have been in to see the dealer for this on 4 seperate occasions, they have changed MAF, TPS,O2 sensor, and the ECM. After this work, or any time I disconnect the battery, the symptom goes away for about 1500 miles and them strts to re appear. I am going in tomorrow for the 5th time for the problem, does anybody, out there have any thought or fixes, besides " the lemon law"
Thanks |

Re: power lag at 4k
oldjohn,
This is unfortunately a normal situation with our cars. There is not much that can be done about it. I'm actually surprised that your dealer has done all that they have. Some people have found that upgrade the ground wires on their cars have helped. I have done this without positive results. The wiring kits can be bought from Sharkracing.com, but if you are mechanically/electrically inclined, you can make them yourself. Here is a DIY for this modification http://elantragtclub.com/index/id114.html |

i would not reccomend shark racing. just do a search for "shark racing customer service" on hyundaiperformance.com.
you will see what im talking about. you can get a decent grounding kit off of ebay for cheap. dont think it would help though. |

I have order a few thing from SR and i agree that their CS is lacking. Shipping time was also an issue but they did just enough to keep me from being worried. They have recently reorganized and so far everything i've heard has been positive. Yes, the ones off ebay will probably be just as good. I don't go to HP anymore, but there are some on XD and elantragtclub who swear by it. I haven't had very good results from them tho. |
