Alright so i noticed when i got my radiator replaced that my temp guarge would act funny and not really heat up.

now after my engine is rebuilt i touched my hood to see how the heat was spreading through the hood and i touch the part just over the radiator and its bone cold. i dont know what the hell is up but my car just wont stay warm now and its pissing me off cause i cant get heat outa my car.

Hmmm Never heard of a radiator working that good that it will not heat up. I kinda had the same problem when I first got my Si. The problem turned out to be the thermostat it was stuck open. It was open to the air for a couple days while I got a new radiator just long enough for the air to get to it and it rusted. On our cars the cooling system is very effecent a stuck open thermostat will never allow the water/coolent to sit in the block long enough to warm up. Other thing could be is your radiator fan if it on all the time it will never warm up right.

Re: Can your radiator work too good?

kinda like my car....but, my car heats up fine. running down the freeway in 30deg weather the temp will get below the c mark. i blocked off half my radiator and it seems to do better. still though the temp needle doesnt register steadily. heh i have no idea wtf is wrong with it. i have a new thermostat, bled the system, and even tried disconnecting the rad fan. nothing helps me, maybe they can work too good

does the temp gauge not go up either? mine did that when the thermostat was stuck open, it would cool down to below C on the freeway but if i just sat there at a light or parked it would warm up.

Re: Can your radiator work too good?

Yeah dude...thermostat is stuck open. They are about $5 at the local parts store...also make sure you get a new gasket (sold in the same section) and clean the old material off both surfaces. A new thermostat will do wonders, I think the stock temp thermostat for 4Gs is 180 degs, which puts the average coolant temp around 185...also an engine running too cold doesn't run well either.

Re: Can your radiator work too good?

make sure your thermostat is working and opens up. I also have this problem with my fluidine. It works really well but the car still warms up but just a little bit.
