Help with swapping winter tires

Hello,
I just got a 2002 Saturn LW300. It has tires of size 205 65R15. I also have a set of winter tires of size 215 60R15. I think that means the winter tires are a little wider, with a smaller rim diameter but the same overall diameter. Does this mean I can use the winter tires on the Saturn? If so, do the winter tires need their own rims since the rim size is different?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Help with swapping winter tires

That tire size should still work fine on the stock 6" wide rims. You could switch them out or use a second set of wheels.

Thanks very much! So the 65 or 60 measurement refers to the rim width and not the diameter?

Re: Help with swapping winter tires

That number is the aspect ratio. It is the percentage of the tire's width used to figure out the tire's sidewall height. You take 65% of 205 mm and that's about how tall the tire's sidewall will be.
