Oxygen sensor issues HELP

Hey guys and ......girls,
I'm pissed!!!! I've recently purchased a universal type oxygen sensor to replace my original sensor. You ready for this!!! It will not work! The guy at BOSCH told me after I purchased the item. Waited two weeks for nothing. There has got to be a good electrician out there that could give me the down on it. I've got a 98 Honda Civic HX manual transmission. The problem is that the original sensor has 5 wires and the universal has 4. Maybe someone has a clue on what wire is for what and maybe I could leave one out. PLEASE HELP!!!
