93 Ford Tuarus power failure on startup.

This is what happened.I hop in my car like normal and my dome light kicks on like normal and it stays on for like 8 second or so after i close the door, but as soon as i turn the key to start the motor it goes out and nothing happens.no clicks no sound or anything and now EVERYTHING on my car has NO POWER.Headlights don't work, dome lights are dead, trunk light dead, everything on dash is dead in any key postion and no signs of power at all.My battery allways seemed to be fine, but somewhere on this forum says these 2 lines

"The guys at Sams told me that these 'catastrophic' failures DO occur and that it is not uncommon. They could not tell me WHY they occur - internal short between two cells or whatever."

What do you think? This happened late last night, but right now
it is 2am and i will check the battery in morning, but i was wondering if anyone got any other ideas till then.
