hypothetical question
Yo, I've been thinkin awhile about this problem. I've noticed that my factory 240sx speedometer goes only to 110 and the tach redlines at 7-8. Which is fine and all. But supposin I eventually decide to put in a sr20det or other engine, which (i'm guesin...please correct me if i'm wrong), would increase the top speed beyond 110 and the redline beyond 7-8 krpms. do i have to get a new speedo and tach with a new engine?

No. You wont need to rev either engine past 6500 anyway since thats where their power curve drops off. For that matter, the KAs power curv drops after 5600.
As for the speedo, you dont need a new one to go faster than 110.

U could get the JDM one (RPM) it redlines at 7.5. But I can't emphasize enough on the fact that u don't need to redline the SR at all, all that u going to due is damage it. Furthermore, some companies make a speedometer that reads above 110 mph for the S13. Get one of those ore get the digital one, (I have that) its just better.
Ps: don’t go above 120 mph w/out suspension, trust me!!!! |

thanx a lot guys, that did answer my question. i have this thing tho about wanting to see how fast i go, especially at high speeds. yeah, the digital speedometer seems like the best idea, thanx AWDSR20.
