1994 golf iii won't start

help. when i got home yesterday and shut the car off, i smelled something burning. this morning it won't start. no click click or anything. lights and radio worked. i put it on a charger for a few hours. and still the same. any ideas?

When you turn the key to run, do the dash lights come on? When you turn to start, do they dim?

hi. and thanks for your reply. i was able to "pop" start it. brought it to the mechanic....it was a starter problem..i was confused because there was no "click click" when i tried to start it. $185 later...thanks again.
