rear end sweak noise

I have a 2002 Yukon with factory installed self leveling rear shocks. When I hit a bump I hear a loud sweaky noise from the rear end. It sounds like it is coming from the shock as it is rebounding. Is this normal for the self leveling shock? I took it to the dealer, they said the rear noise is normal but found a sweak in the front shock and replaced a bushing on the front shocks. Sweak is loud and drives me crazy. Should I replace rear shocks with Bilstien or Monroe premium shocks?
Second question, I also hear a "clunk" in the rear as it is shifting. I guess a certain amount of slack is ok. But if I brake hard I hear a clunk at stop. As rear supsension and drive train moves and settles back Is this normal?

I have a 2002 Yukon SLT w/out the auto-ride suspension and have experienced the exact same thing. It is most prominent on speed bumps. Took it in to the dealer, they said they lubed some bushings...however the sound hasn't changed.

As for the clunk...i experienced a clunk between 1st & 2nd gear when under light acceleration. They "reprogrammed" the transmission per some service bulletin. All is good now.

Good Luck.

Re: rear end sweak noise

mine did the same thing...i got my can of wd-40 and a grease gun and used the jack to take the pressure off the leaf springs on each side. wash them out really good then grease all the bushings and between each leaf in the spring with the wd-40 and grease gun and the problem should go away...if you take it through any mud its just dirt, sand, and mud in the bushings and stuff but its pretty easy to fix

I have an '03 Denali & the rear end was making the same sound. Dealer said said the drive shaft yoke's weren't lubed properly from the factory. They lubed it & so far, so good.
