Talking jcz1987 went whale watching!(lots of pics)

On Thursday, my oceanography sophomore class went on a field trip to go whale watching on a boat outside the Monterey Bay. It was a fun trip. I have some pictures here to show.

This right here is the famous Monterey Bay Aqaurium. It has the largest fish tank out of any aquarium.

Here are some California Sea Lions on a buoy.

Here is my oceanography class.

Here is another boat that was next to us outside the bay.

The Orca Whales. Very few travel near the shore of California. My class was lucky that day to see some.

heres another shot of the Orca Whales.

Heres a picture of two of my friends. As you can see, the people in the back were seasick. About 10 people threw up during our three hour ride.

My friend wanted to make a funny face for the camera.

Re: jcz1987 went whale watching!(lots of pics)

There are many whale species and a few dolphin to be seen off New Zealand.Whenever I get the chance,I go out from Kaikoura and Akaroa to see them.I can see a seal colony just by towing my runabout down to the local port and motoring out to the rocks.

Never seen an Orca,but.

Looks like you had a good time. I saw some whales when I took the fairy from Washington to Haines, Alaska. It was pretty awesome. Unfortunatly everytime I saw one, my camera was in my cabin.

Sounds like a fun trip. I've done diving in Hawaii where there were dolphins around but I haven't been there to see any whales.

I currently live in San Jose but, since I'm going to move this summer, I now go to Monterey High School. It's pain in the ass because I drive an hour to and back just to go to school.

Wuss. I did this when I was about 10 years old. In the ATLANTIC ocean. Looking back and seeing waves higher than the boat was damn scary. Good thing I had a strong stomach, I didn't puke once. Can't say the same for many other people. While we were leaving the harbor people were pigging out on the boat. It was just puke-fest Atlantic out there.

I went whale watching when I was 8 years old with my 2nd grade class, and a 5th grade class, because we were doing a group unit on whales and dolphins and whatnot......i saw like 3 dolphins and a couple of whales out in the atlantic ocean, which was pretty cool....and no i didn't have a camera, because my mom didn't trust me with hers, and i didn't have the money to buy a disposable one.....and i have the greatest ironcast stomach in the worldi ate a big breakfast before the trip and i had lunch on the boat...no vomiting..i think only one or 2 vomited on the trip

One wierd thing during the trip was that some people had really weak stomaches. One kid vomited during the first ten minutes of the boat ride. Even one of my friends went twice. I have a strong stomach. I had a large breakfast and I still felt great through the whole ride.

I didn't catch anything. We weren't allowed to fish. But it was fun.

Sounds like a fun field trip. Were those Transient or Resident Orcas? I here the Transients are making a comeback in Monterey.

I havn't gone whale watching in ages, and I really want to do it again since I rarely seen them from the ferry.
