monte carlo pros and cons
i am rebuilding an 85 monte carlo ss. my dad and uncle are helping me. i was wondering what the pros and cons were of owning a monte carlo. what is the perfomance like on the cars. we have taken out the stock 305 H.O. and we are putting in a 305 while i rebuild the HO. it would be helpfull if someone would tell me if there is any parts on monte carlos that would typically go bad or should just be replaced with something better that would increase the performance of that car.

my dad and i want to take our other monte and put a big block in and put racing slicks and a roll bar or cage or somehting but othrer then that they are awesome casr and if u treat them with respect they will treat u good ohh yeah put a flowmaster on and it will sound sweet

Re: monte carlo pros and cons
Pros: VERY reliable, good performance, mine has 151,000 miles still runs perfect. Not any usual problems besides the valve seals which are not a big issue, just keep an eye on the oil level.
COns: Very bad in rain/snow...rust problems stated in previous post, gas guzzler. I suggest using a high flow cat, headers and flowmaster 40's...it will sound great and you will gain a lot more performance |
