Question forester xt back-fireing

I've recently got a new 2004 manual Forester XT. When I'm accelerating on a neutral with a warm engine, the engine is back-fireing. First I was told by the service dep that car's computer has to be changed, but then they said everything was OK and what's happening is quite normal. I still have my doubts about it. The gas consumption is around 15 l/100 km (there is 5,000 km on the odometer). Has enybody ever experienced similar problem with a back-fireing? Is the consumption normal?

what?

whatever you may be experiencing it sure as hell is not backfiring. Reason. backfiring only occurs in Carberauted engines, and although subaru did have a carb for the longes time, they do not ne more, backfiring occurs when detonation happens in the Carberautor. what you may be experiencing is a bad fuel sensor or something. replacing the entire computer seems extreme. my sugestion buy ur own scanner or make friends with someone who does.
