ETS Please Help!

I have a 1999 Grand AM SE V6. I was driving yesterday and the Service Engine Soon light came on and the car began to run very sluggish. I then noticed that when I hit the ETS button, the Trac Off light would not come on. I took the car to the mechanic and he said I had a random cylinder misfire which he fixed. Now the Service Engine light no longer comes on, but I can't get my Trac button to work. Anyone know what to do?

ses, trac off

I also had misfire in cylindar 3 and broken boot, mech fixed all, but second time I started car ses light came back on again. Also trac off light was coming on whenever it felt like it, no reason, and button on dash didn't work at all, told I needed new battery, done, now dash button works, but trac off light still comes on whenever it wants to (ie, at a stop sign, driving along smooth road, etc)...any suggestions? I have a 2000 GA SE...

Re: ETS Please Help!

There was a recall on the hazard light switch recently on 99-03 ga's , the track button on mine would get sticky and not work unless i went behind it and made sure the connection to the button was good. Since they replaced the hazard the trac button works fine now.

Re: ETS Please Help!

Just had that done, and dash button WORKS again now, but trac off lite still comes on whenever/wherever it feels like, and no one seems to know WHY as diagnostic doesn't show any problem w/it! Also since having tune up/new boots, etc, ses lite on again-you can HEAR the engine misfire now, same diag reading-misfire in cyl 3-NOW mech says it's either broken fuel injector or some coil under it...?

My brother had a 3.1 that the fuel injector broke and fell into the cylinder. Messed the engine up bad. Not sure what year it was though. Fuel injectors rarely go bad. But I guess it happens. Just had to share the part about the broken injector. LOL
