anybody done tint by yourself???

got a 95 camaro, don't feel like paying 170 for mirror tint....autozone carries 2'/6' of the same for $15....

people say it's gonna look nasty and bubble if not done by pro...

does anybody carry pieces big enough for the hatch window (4'/4'?)

thanks!

doing the rear hatch on a camaro is a pain in the butt , you have to use two pieces of tint , $170 is a good deal for having it done , you will atleast get a warranty ,but if you really want to do it, take your time , make sure everything inch of the glass is clean and measure twice before you cut your tint , main thing is to make sure the glass is clean

Re: anybody done tint by yourself???

why would you diy? i wouldn't bother-you'd be spending so much time just trying to get it all even, and get all the bubbles out. just cough up the 170 and have it pro done. 170 isn't that bad.

btw--this is coming from a person who lives for DIY projects..this one just isn't worth it imo

Tint is the last thing you wanna DIY. Cough up that Feddy and make sure you got that warranty. I got my tints done for 150 bout 2 months ago. One of the winows is screwed up, so I'm taking it back to get redone under the warranty.

yeah i would agree to just get it done professionally. for that price it is pretty cheap for mirror tint and has warranty. plus the film from autozone isn't that good quality compared to the pros i think.

for someone who never tinted windows it well be hard to make it look good. so just save yourself the trouble, let someone else do it.

Re: anybody done tint by yourself???

yo if u do decide to try it jet fumes, because lets face it guys sometimes there are those of us who like to do sh$t for ourselves, lol but be well informed this is a job an a half bro. its better to pay them for that price if you don't have the money to play with. thats pretty darn cheap, but if not here's the info, clean ur windows well, use a spay bottle filled with luke warm water mixed with a small amount of dish soap, preferably dawn or joy, they seem to work the best, buy a nice black rubber spredder from your local parts store, 3m makes some nice ones and they r only about $3.00 usually, not those harder plastic ones mind you it should be rubber, then cut the pieces of tint to the rough size of the window ahead of time, spay the window with a light myst of the soap water mix, then the back of the peeled sheet of tint, make sure that you leave at least 1/2 in. on the bottom to be tucked in below the window seal so that it won't catch and pull up later on with use. (helps to take off door panels for beginners) have a friend help u if u can in putting the sheets on the window as to not get wrinkles. spray the top of the tint you put on with the mix and then slowly work the water and bubbles out from the center of the tint to the edges of the window, take ur time thats the key, the tint won't stick right away so if something happens pull it off and try again, when and if you finally get a window done, lol take a nice sharp exacto blade or razor blade and trim the access off the edges, its tricky, try to guide the blade by resting your fingers of the hand ur using to trim with on the top edge of the window. hey just in case u wanna try it man,lol
