wtf is this?

These 3 photos are pictures of this brown duct-taped thing wired into another wire. I have no clue what this is, my friend said it was called a simulation and made my car faster, but I've never heard of a simulation before, and don't know what the hell this duct taped thing is. If you have any idea let me know

Re: wtf is this?

haha no it's not an o2 sensor. It's just a bundle of sensors that nissan was to cheap to make brackets for. 1 of them goes to the distributor and 1 to the MAFS. The big bundle that comes out the left side of it runs along the top of the fuel rail and then goes to the firewall, and then into the ecu.

i've got the same thing on my car with the same ugly brown tape.

Re: wtf is this?

No problem. Nah man i'm not a mechanic. I just really enjoy working on cars, whether it's being modified with aftermarket parts or just working on a stock motor.... I love it all.

Re: wtf is this?

Thats one thing i have noticed on my car. Its a '92 240 fastback and there is no o2 sensor in the cat or anywhere else for that matter. Is that an age thing where they started on newer cars or what. Oh and J SPEC amen to working on cars. I work on my car when nothing is broken.

Re: Re: wtf is this?

The 02 sensor functions by reading your exhaust. It cannot be anywhere else.

Are you sure that you don't see a metal plug anywhere in your exhaust at all? Because if not, someone must have removed it/them. Cars that don't have an O2 sensor are carburated. Unless you converted your car from fuel injection, then you are either not seeing your O2 sensors or they were removed.

Re: wtf is this?

I try working on my car but nothing ever works or goes as planned. When I tried putting my stereo face plate in, I pretty much did everything right, wired it and everything, but I just didn't think i needed the antenna converter. I didn't know that was the ground wire, thought the black wire like most cars is the power connector. Well I blew my fuse so I had to call a mechanic and pay $35 when all I needed was the stupid antenna converter. Then the bulb installation didn't work, I didn't want to mess with taking our my corner lights and headlights so I called my mechanic to do it again and found out how. I'm going to take classes though, it's a good thing to know.
