hey im going to be turboing my ka and am currently saving up for the turboing right now...what I was wondering is what would be the best turbo to use for the engine which i intend to squeeze every anount of horse power out of?

also i dont want to get a kit i am just talking about the turbo itself...like should I get a t4 or a 20g?

the amount of power that i want to produce would be somwhere around 400whp or higher if possible. the type of racing would mostly be drag.... maybe some drifting

that will get you to your 400 whp goal and then some

i like 20g ,i asy go with a bigger trim then .63 if you want more hp in the long run.. it will be a little hearder to spool but if you build your motor you can get an easy500whp out of it..
i know the td-06 20g flows 550lb/min so thats good for 500hp.. and spools up quick, you can always go for a ball bearing turbo thoses will spool quicker then a cemeritical turbo..

how much CFM dose the ka head flow? Also I wouldnt go any bigger in the compressor wheel a\r. Too much lag, remember were deciding on a turbo for a 4-cylinder engine, yes you would be able to make more hp with the larger a\r and get more top end but really your only going to be hitting around 104-117 MPH in the quarter mile

true but you dont want to be loosing power after 6-7k rpmz then what are you going to do.. you need a turbo htat will give you boost untill redline and will not fall off.

Anybody know what the trim spec for a T3/T4 turbo thats capable of 500HP or more? I was told you can get one that will push at least 500. Is it possible to get more????

what kind of boost can a stock KA handle. I've heard from random sites that it can handle 7 lbs stock.

turbo2nr you also have to remember that turbo engines like to pull from a lower rpms and dont like to rev to the sky because the amount of exhaust decreses in comparision to the amount of air that is drawn in resulting in boost drop. The most you should rev a turbo ka is 6500'ish, any more then that your loosing too much torque and could be in the next higher gear at a lower RPM where the torque is more plentiful. The ka has a longer stroke then bore in the piston/crank design so rpms arent exactly your friend as where a honda engine which has more bore then stroke so RPMs are your friend.

Also in regard to nissanfanatic who said 7lbs stock. Sure the ka can handle 7psi of boost stock but personally I would like to control the amount of fuel going into the engine via a inline fuel pressure regulator and possiably a different fuel pump.(to be safe)
-Try not to be as broad as to say the ka can handle 7psi.
Lets say smaller turbo can make 200whp @ 15 psi, that same engine with a larger turbo can make 200 whp @ 8psi, this is true becuase the larger turbo is capable to flow more air = more power. try to give some specs so that we can give you a more accurate answer.

Those are two examples of turbos that will hit your high horse power mark. im sure that you could get more then 500 hp out of the ka but I would not want to tune it. all the time on race gas which gets expensive and reliability will go out the window, and parts, i dont think you will be able to count the amount of peices your piston will be in after you drop an intake valve. thats a drag car only but have fun. RB swap for more then 500hp or buy a supra

ka24de can handle up to 12psi saftely, my friend has a turbo ka24de and runs it on 8psi all the time and 12 psi when he wants to race, and he is making 230whp and 230ftlb.. as for the bigger turbo thing, yes bigger turbo more hp but more lag also, if you are looking for 300-350 hp get a small turbo that will be good enought for a ka with stock internals and a well tunned fuel system, but if you plan to re-build internals i say get a a bigger turbo, i seen ka24 run with big t04e tha have about a .67 a/r, but a 63 a/r is good also but if you do a .63 a/r you might want to mate it to a bigger turbine like somehting like a 75trim so that more air will be sucked in..

i agree w\ everything turbo2nr just said. im sure your not talking about J SPEC SilEighty's car so what setup dose your friend have? im interested in what setups people are using with their KA-ts im looking to turbo my car in june so.. any information is appreciated.

I know you would need an upgraded fuel system and i'm not going to get into the details. I just wanted to know what the KA could handle safely before having to rebuild it.

the guy that im am talik about is tat2 he is on this forum, his turbo kit is form realnissan. i believe it is a t04 not sure it its the b or e but its a t04, it ocmes with a turbo, mainflod, fittings, n other thing that im not sure of, its best to pm him if you want, i know he has a apex-i dual n1 exhaust and a intercooler..
