Yes, it's called NEO-VVL. They also have the new version found in the newer SE-Rs and SpecVs called CVTCC.

Nissan's previous NEO-VVL motors include:

SR20VE - 190HP, 2.0-liter (underrated)
SR16VVL - 172HP, 1.6-liter
SR16VVL N1 - 197HP, 1.6-liter
SR20VET - 270HP, 2.0-liter (underrated)

That's why I asked him what car it was in. If the SR20VE is in a light-weight Classic SE-R like mine, it is fully capable of high 13's with even the stock motor. My best run in my "140HP" SE-R is a 15.0-flat with spinning tires...

Re: NISSAN V-TEC vs HONDA V-TEC

that SR20VE is underated cuz he dynoed @187hp to the wheels bone stock..with just intake filter and greddy exhaust. and the SR20VET (V-Tec turbo) i heard is over 290hp.

the honda guys think they are the only ones with V-tec until recently. thruth is they did think it up and patented the technology but other companies developed their version of variable valve/timing too. but the had to wait the stipulated 12 years before the patent is up. thats why every can freely use it without obligation.

So you are saying that the sr20ve was in a se-r with only I/H/E that dynoed 187whp with audio equipment and full interior took out a H22A swaped hatch? Was the hatch stock? If the hatch had just I/H/E then I think the SE-R would have a hard time beating it.

Also please stop refering to Nissan's varible valve timmng as V-TEC. Nissan does not have "V-TEC" it has NEO-VVL. Calling V-TEC makes you sound uncreditable.

bone stock = no modifications, intake and exhaust count as modifications and dont everyone be like oh they dont give much power, you dont know how the engine responds to mods
