Tell him I wasted my brother-in-law's truck (exactly the same as the one you described) with my 95 Spyder VR4. The Spyder is 300 pounds heavier then the regular VR4 and I turned the boost down to 9psi to give him a chance.

He has no idea what he's talking about.

Re: Dodge Ram Vs. VR-4

Laugh at him....continue laughing...then bet 350 bucks on the race, whoop his ass, and buy yourself a new downpipe. As far as the money, its worth it, if you like it. I don't think you paid too much, and as far as a vr4, you could probably get one, but not that great of one, they are usually more.

according to motertrend's review of the 2003 dodge ram 1500 slt hemi they run about 15.11 in the 1/4 with a profesional driver on a track. a half decent stock vr-4 of any year with a half decent driver should be able to easily pull a 14.5 on the street. i would be careful though, a bad misshift or a car that desperatly needs a tuneup or a horrible launch could make it close but you would still win. if you want to TOTALLY anailate him do the following, get a tune up, buy an $18 manual boost controller, and turn the boost up to 14.5 psi. then even if he has put a good amount of mods into his truck, you will still crush him.

this sounds like the kind of person that does not even know what a hemi is and goes around talking about how his hemi is so much better than other people's engines (when they acctually have hemi's as well, just without the patented name badge on them)

oh, by the way, i paid $6850 for the 91 VR-4 in my sig.

the previous owner got it for $7200 and put $22k into it (beautiful paint, reapohlstered (sp?) interior, a new tranny and t-case, and all new speakers among other things). and it runs fine

so you can find a good deal on a VR-4 if you look hard enough. the downside is it has 215k miles on it, so the engine, suspension, and turbos will not last that much longer but i have another engine that i am building for it anyway so i am not concerened (work done by driven performance, link in sig, they are great!).

yea, that is a bunch of miles. it looks like it is new though, it is crazy, now i just need to put a fully built motor in there with some td05 turbos and then the only old thing on the car will be the suspension really. i will wait for that to break because i will be broke for a while after i get my current projucts done lol.
