I've been saving up for a projection unit for my pc, around $1300. Its one of those projectors that the min diagonal of the screen is 300'' and the max is 25'. My question is has any had any experiences with these? are they reliable? how long do the bulbs last? whats the picture quality like?
Anyways i think seeing my downloaded movies and my dvd's playing on the wall of the side of my room would be badass!!!

Re: Projection
You can't play games on them
You'll burn it out.

Re: Projection
Well, it depends on what type of game. Any game that has static images on the screen (health bars, ammo, any type of HUD basically) will literally be burned onto the projection screen or something like that. It used to happen on old TVs, and can potentially happen on new TVs.
The same goes for the start bar on windows, don't leave the projector running with windows up. Movies will be fine, as long as they have motion (which, is in the definition of a movie) ![]() Depending on how long it took you to save up $1300, I'd wait a little longer and get a standard projector that you can plug in RCA and stuff into.

playing games on your projector really isnt as bad as these guys are making it seem. i've had my projector for over 2 years now, and all i use it for is playing games on my PS2. the bulb has a rated 2000 hours and ive already had to replace it, so that shows you how much i use it. the picture is still perfect, and theres nothing burned in.
as far as picture quality is concerned, projectors arent as good as tv's or PC monitors. the contrast ratio isnt as high, and the colors just arent as vibrant and colorful as with tv's. and you cannot use the projector when there are lights on in the room, or you wont see anything. the room should be as dark as possible. |
