Speed govern
how do u remove this from the ECU or the ECM or whatever it is hooked up to? I hear if u remove it then u can unlock some good power. Is there a way to remove it or do u just gotta buy an aftermarket computer chip? By the way i got a 90 accord ex

I believe that the governers are built into the ECU (correct me if i'm wrong). If this is the case, the only thing you could do is change the ECU, or get it reprogrammed. Getting this done wouldn't really free up any power (it may make the motor rev higher, but that is a bad thing for long term use). All it would do is let you go faster, and most cars go fast enough already; roads aren't meant to be going 150mph on.

disclaimer: it is illegal to disable a speed governer on a car... state laws may vary, but this a rather universal law.
regarding how to bypass it, you will need to buy an aftermarket ECU. only if you are extremely skilled with electronics would I dare you to try and make changes to your current ecu on your own..... personally, I gave up my attempt at manipulating my '85 ECU, and I figured it would be relatively simple (yours I might note is 5 years newer)... keep in mind, that I am an engineering major (undecided), and my father who was helping me is an electrical engineer. don't mess with what you don't understand |
