80s SC to Turbo?

i'm just scouting the idea here, i havn't really looked into it that much yet. but it seems to me that you could just take the SC off, get an intake mani from a NA and use that, then have a custom exhaust mani - most likly use the stock that has been cut and had a T25 flange welded on. and have some custom exhaust made. ok, all of that wouldn't be all to expensive. ($100-$200 tops) now, i am assuming that the ECU can sence how much boost the SC was putting out, so you dont need FMUs or a remaped ECU the computer will handle that for you! all you really need is the intake mani, the exhaust mani, the turbo (used eclipse turbo, or turbo off of MK2) some intercooler piping and the intercooler... you should be able to use the stuff from a MK2. and a BOV.. assuming you are useing a turbo with an internal wastegate...

so price rundown...

intake mani- $50 (junkyard)
exhaust mani mod.- $100
used T25- $200
Cheep BOV- $50
Intercooler piping ect.- $300
cheep boost controller- $100
boost gauge and stuff- $100

so like between $800 and $1100 for all of it. well that is just my inital thoughts... although i am sure if it was that easy someone would have done it lol.

*edit*
oh, i know i am missing small things like oil return lines... but i will worrie about the details of it later... when it moves from simple consept to an acctual project!

Re: 80s SC to Turbo?

oooooooooooooo *drools* that would be amazing, however you can probably do it for cheaper. there was a jdm 4agte, just find the manifold and asorted parts from that instead of customizing the ones u have *would buy*

very cool, do it man! AF needs another first gen turbo car!!!!
