17's on a 96 civic, what suspension?
I have a '96 civic that is factory everything at the moment. I want to put on 17's, and lower it, i figure about 1.5 to 2 inches. what is the best way to accomplish this? springs, new shocks? also, i heard something about a camber kit needed if lowering a civic? can anyone help me out, or point me in the right direction?

Not be rude but you could start out by reading some previous threads in this section.
Struts do not lower a vehicle unless they have an adjustable spring perch like Koni yellow's & even then it's only like 25mm. True coilovers(adjustable spring perch), springs/struts, or coilover sleeves(adjustable collar)/struts are the best way to go about lowering. Springs control ride height while struts control springs. Stock struts are NOT designed to work at a lowered level or control lowering springs, this is why aftermarket struts are needed. Civic's DO not have factory camber adjustments & is affected by lowering, it's not really a problem until 1.75-2.0" or more drop. For exact alignment camber kits would be needed for a .5" drop. |

The best way to go is get full coilovers with an upper pillow mount. It's all there in one package, camber adj., ride height adj, and ride adj. Your car will be firm yet comfortable (depending if you like a harsh ride). When you buy everything seperate, your going to spend near the same amount anyway. coilovers (s & s), camber kit, and adj shocks. 350+350+350 approx depending on setup 1050. teins are about the same amount so thats how i think it should be done
