I just bought a used 1994 Ford T-bird w/ 88k miles on it.
It runs great except for a small knocking/ticking in the engine. Could anyone tell me what to do to get rid of the ticking. Is there anything I can buy to put in the engine that might help?? Any and all replies will be very appreciated. Last edited by robqx4; 02-20-2004 at 06:14 PM. |

With only 88K miles, its probably just an injector.....Don't worry about it...my 96 has been ticking for the last 53K miles and no troubles yet...(knock on wood)

Re: Ticking in engine
What size engine? Have you checked the oil level?
With 120,000 mi. on my nissan along with racing it I have to change the oil ever thousand mi. to keep my collapsed lifter/lifters from ticking. Personaly I don't trust using oil additives, but try if you like. Just stay away from any form of stop leak.

Re: Ticking in engine
3.8 needed lifters every now and then it wasnt a major problem though.still could be an injector or a timing problem.

Re: Ticking in engine
I have a 94 tbird w/ 3.8 liter 64,000 miles
I have an annoying ticking sound when engine is cold, as it warms up the ticking goes away. Would an injector act up like this, or should I be steering toward replacing lifters thanks randy |
