Question Transmission Slipping

I have an '88 735 IL with 144K miles. A week ago the transmission began slipping first thing in the morning until the car had warmed up (5 minutes or so) then would work normally. Now it has been slipping badly at mid-day too when not so cold. Took it to my mechanic (BMW only) and he checked fluid, filters, etc. and said that all looked well. Put some additive it that he thought might help. It is getting worse fast. Any ideas? Other hint: about two weeks ago the car was hesitating sharply when accellerating at high speeds (75 MPH or so).

Thanks for you help!

Steve

Re: Transmission Slipping

The best advice I can give you is to join roadfly.org, which is similar to this site, and post your problem there. One guy in particular, Kirt Koeller, is a professional transmission mechanic and if there is any easy fix, he'll know what it is. There are others as well, but Kirt is probably THE expert on the transmissions for your model.

Re: Re: Transmission Slipping

Thanks for the suggestion. That looks like a great site. I have cross-posted there and will check both sites for the next few days.
