95' Tahoe - is this normal?

I posted last week about disappointing performance as compared to a vortec. Thanks to those that replied.

I picked up a TBI spacer, headers, mandrel Y pipe and hi-flow muffler. I'm getting it all put on tomorrow.

I also got a K&N filter, and after I loaded headers etc. I put in the K&N.

I don't know if it felt any different, although it might have been idling smoother.

Anyway, the roads were wet today, instead of snow, so I put it right down at a light - just out of curiosity.

It seemed to bog a little (maybe a stutter) and then catch and go, but not even spin the tires?!?! On wet pavement??!

Is this normal for a non-vortec? Is it related to the K&N (i.e. does the computer have to 'learn' the new appropriate air/fuel?). About a week ago, with next to no gas in the tank, I put it down from a stop on almost dry pavement and they lit right up for a moment.

Any help, ideas?

if you want to burn tires pour bleach on them. then you can burn them down to the wires. you can't get any real power with all that bolt on crap you're spending your money on. do you want to make some real power?? build a 383 stroker with vortec heads and a decent cam. torque is what you really want for this vehicle and it has to be built into the motor. all the bolt on stuff you have will make a big difference with a high performance motor like a 383 because it moves more air and fuel through the motor but doesn't do much for a stock tbi 350. if you don't want to go all out on a 383 just slapping a pair of vortec heads on will make a noticible difference and you can get them reasonably cheap. adding a shift kit should make the tires chirp a bit. the problem with your tahoe is they built it to be a smooth ride, not a performance truck.

Your improvements will help your engine run better, but if the tune up condition, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc have been in a while 2-3 years or 30,000-40,000 miles I would have started there first. When was the last time a fuel injection service was done? If the answer is "I don't know" you need to do one. Clean up the engine you have juiced up and allowed to breathe.

Did you have all that stuff on yet or just the air filter?

Liquids weigh 8 pounds per gallon, so with very little fuel in the tahoe you will be lighter in the rear, with a full tank you are packing and extra 270lbs of weight in the rear. That is like putting 3.5 tubes of sand into the back of a truck for extra traction! That might have something to do with your difference.

Which spacer did you get? Airaid or Helix? I want to get one and wanted to hear from someone who got one.
