Lightbulb New to Yota Pickups

Hey All:

I am looking at get 92 - 95 Toyota 4x4 and just had a couple of basic questions.

1) What kind of performance upgrades can be had with the 3VZ and 22RE engines?

2) What kind Toyota specific problems should I watch out for when buying?

Thanks everyone. I look forward to being on the board more.

- Movin

Re: New to Yota Pickups

There are quite a few performance upgrades available for both motors, but the 3VZ you can get a bolt on supercharger from the factory, plus I think you can get almost every internal you can dream of, I would be more precise, but a google search will turn it all up. And I think that they had the problem fixed by then, but look for signs of rust on the rear fenders and have a look over the motor using common sense, if you hear something that is wrong dont buy it, and expecially if the transmission is the problem, real pain to change. And welcome to the wonderful world of toyotas.

Thanks for the heads up. Are far as "more specific" I am looking year specific problems you mentioned rust. But is there anything that commomnly goes wrong in those years. At this point I have broadened my search to 89-94. Or are there any websites you can recommend. I have already been to www.wildyotas.com. What others can you recommend.

Try and steer clear of the 84 body style. I had one and the two piece bed did have problems with rust. My 92 though didn't have any rust problems at all. Drove it for 228K and it still sold for half of what I paid for it. Damn thing was almost bullet proof.
