no cat = higher airflow
higher airflow = higher hp
higher hp = always a good idea

unless your a tree hugging hippee that wants to save the environment

Re: Catalytic Converter

Ok, well in British Columbia where i live, up untill 82 and including 1982, cars did not require a catlytic converter. Check and see if you are required to run one, because i beleave that due to the age of your car you do not have to .

even if you did "have" to, would it actually matter? my guess is not.

Re: Catalytic Converter

Yes you have to. When you have a visual inspection they check for them. But i beleave that after 82 cars had to have them, but up until then they did not require them.

As for cops, they might actualy pull you over for it. Especialy at night, when you downshift, often you will see falmes out the exhaust. This is a pig attratcor. The removal of them also makes the car substantialy louder. Possibly braking the db laws in your area.

If you are just wanting to remove the cats then all you need to do is cut the cat out of the ehxaust if it is welded in. Weld a couple flanges to eather side of the exhaust pipe, do the same on another peice the same length as the cat and bolt it in. This way, if you do get pulled over and told that you need a cat then you can still fit one on. Otherwise you could just weld in a section of pipe in place of the cat.
