Radiator Overflow Bottle Problem

My over flow bottle has been flowing over lately. I'm going to change my thermostat and radiator cap later this week. Will this solve the problem or is there something else i'm missing? Thanks!

If you have too much antifreeze, this will happen. On an older honda, I've had it start bubbling/spraying out of there when the thermostat was stuck closed (bad thing to happen in the summer). After I changed the thermostat it never happened again.

Re: Radiator Overflow Bottle Problem

Today i let the temp come up on the car and i never felt a pressure release from the thermostat while squeezing the hose.

I had bought the car back in august and never checked the fluid level in the bottle just the radiator. I usually check out everything like this.

I was reading a few other threads about valve adjusting. The car has 143,--- miles and all the records the girl gave me for the car has no valve adjustment being done. There is a slight ticking i can hear from 30 feet away. I swear when i bought the car i didn't hear the engine at all. I called a guy who does nothing but honda work and it would cost me $68.13 tax included. Can this be put off for a few weeks or should it be done right away?

Alrigth I got ur meassage, I'll To exlplain my best.

Ok in front of the block where the TOP radiator hose connect's is a AIR VALVE to let AIR come out when flushing the coolant out of the radaitor.
Try opening it but not all the way to see if any air comes out. If theirs air it would probaly be bubbling and you want to stop bleeding it when it's no longer bubbling.
Also If I wear you I would change the the thermostat, radatior cap/fan switch and top and bottom radaitor hoses.(when getting a used car)
Is your car overheating?
So what did the guy say it was?

Re: Radiator Overflow Bottle Problem

The car is not overheating just having the flow problem into the overflow tank. I let the car sit and idle which brought the temp up to 3/4 on the gauge but the fan didn't come on!

I had planned on changing the themo, cap, but didn't think about the switch. Can you give me the location on the switch? I'm not a moron but i never owned a Honda until now so i don't know where certain things are like i did my Mustang. I could take shit apart on it with my eyes closed.

The other thing i called to see how much the valve adjustment was.

Well this might be a little hard to explain, so bare with me. You know where the thermostat is right? Well on the termostats is a plug which is the fan switch. Pull the plug out. Now to see if it works get a paper clip and shape it into a U. The plug has two slots in the middle so get the paper clip and stick it in( the car has to be on but not the motor) if the fan turns on then it works.
So did you try bleeding the air out of the valve? I think that the reason ur resireve tank is over flowing is because you got air pocks in the motor so you must bleed it. But before change the thermosat.\

what Happen??

Re: Radiator Overflow Bottle Problem

I tried letting the car overheat tonight but no such luck, so i didn't try the vent plug.

I did however try to pull the fan plug loose but the damn thing is stuck. I tried with a screw driver to apply some pressure while pulling and still no dice. I'll hit it with some wd-40 and try again. The switch looks more like a pain in the ass to replace due to the harnesses being taped and wrapped in the plastic shit.

I'll do what it takes to save some $$$. Any other ideas?
