reverse/idle

When ever put my car in reverse it takes a second to engage. i know thats pretty much normal with caprices but i push on the gas and my engine just revs higher and i don't go backwards for about 5 seconds and then i hear a noise that sounds like i'm trying to go with my ebake on and then it goes away after about 2 seconds and its fine. but everytime i try to back up, thats what happeneds.

Also my engine seems to idle kinda high and then when i put in gear it goes down alot but no where near dieing. i drove 1/2 an hour, interstate speed, and i pulled into mcdonalds drive through and i'm barely pushen on the gas to get up the slight incline and when i let off its starts idling up and down and finally after about half a minute it does. thats only happened once that it died, but it does idle weird probably every other day.

i don't know if this is something connected but when i'm driven about 55 or higher i drive, not overdrive, my car seems to jerk, probably same problem with the idle but i just don't hear it, but feel it.

My car is schedualed to go in the shop tuesday, but i just want to know if its something i easily fix.

Well, the mechanic said my cap was corroded, wires arcing, idle something, i think control, not working properly, tbi dirty, tbi gasket leaking, belt tensioner not working right. and the transmission fluid was burnt, somehow. i had it flushed and changed about 10,000 miles ago and itsn't it supppose to go to 30,000. owell, all cost includes parts and labor, 580 dollors. i'd do it, but i don't have the time.
