4L60E is done..

Well, the tranny is done for.. Interesting enough, we have a 78 caprice with a bad motor, but guess what! Good tranny, I'm losing the OD, but I think it will be worth it. Anyway, if any of you have done this and have some pointers let me know. I have been told that I can change the yoke of the driveshaft and go.

Thanks

Well, After long debate, we decided to go with a 700R4. This was an older version and required some modification. Everything pretty much bolts up the same, although we had to get a kickdown cable. The 4L60E is electronic, whereas the 700R4 is not. Also, we had to change the gear for the speedo and put in the "sensor" for it to work. Havent worked out the electrical part yet, so my anti-lock and brake lights are staying on. Speedo doesnt quite work right either.. Any pointers to fix these problems would be great.. BUT the overall outcome is that my van is drivable and shifts better than it ever has. =)
