Exclamation

:o humm.....i took my max out for a run yesterday...it's raining by the way.....well i was driving at around 40~50km/h in a outdoor parking lot....and i decided to test my max and see how the traction is...i turned right and then left, pull the hand break and the car seemed to have lot's of traction in the back and never sliding..
...this is good...i mean i tried this on a 99 acura 1.6el
and the car just went crazy...skidded so far and shutting off the ABS, haha i guess that's why maxima is such a great car...^^

I beat a toyota corolla in my 90 max and a corolla is way faster both cars stock I simply out drove and out handled him so bad that I actually got far enough ahead to pull off a side road and watch him drive by no joke! I had two other ppl in my car and he had three but still my friends mom has a corolla and he passed me like I was standing still before.

No, the Camrys of all years (except 1st Gen, I think) have a smaller engine at about the same weight as a Maxima....The only mid-sized non-luxury Japanese sedan I've seen compete with the Max is the Honda Accord VTECH.....and even then it's a close race.

Can anyone prove me wrong/right with figures? I forget the numbers, but I'm pretty sure about this.

I think it was (3rd gen) 210hp for the Max and 170 for the Camry....but I forget the exact numbers on the Camry.

The Corolla is barely over 130hp...It's a slug.

Talking skid.................

to all the guys who likes to skid......well the hand brake on the maxima are a little ''soft'' so if u wanna ''float'' in to a turn you must do it either raining or steer to the opposite side of where your turning and turn back into the turn fast.....example: you are doing a right hand turn now.....and u'll have to steer to the left (fast),then turn right(fast), pull the hand brake and the car should end up going into the turn perfectly...^^
...i tried it in a turn yesterday while it was raining....i didn't do it quite as accurate though and end up scarying myself.....hehe....

210 on a third gen? No way! I don't believe it. In 1989, the only thing with four doors and 200hp was a Cadillac.

Maybe.

The fourth gen comes stock at 190, why would they take away from an '80s vintage engine for a '95 redesign?

Bobo - I hope you got dough cuz you're gonna warp your rotors in no time doing that. Of course, it's an excuse to do the ZX brakes mod, right?

My bad...that's the 5th Gen Maxima that has 210...

meant to say 190...still alot more than any other mid-sized sedan at the time...and definately more than a Corolla.

I was in a 91 max 190 hp auto <- that makes a big difference and my friends moms Toyota camry corolla which ever I really can't remember now it was a 4 cyl manual which I think is the only reason the car had dip on me but I was in the beggining of 3rd when he wizzed right pass me. It was the same type of car I raced the second time and from what I read I'm now sure it was a camry so if they had 170 hp like I just read and I had 190hp them manual me auto and them also lighter car w/more ppl and me heavier car less ppl probably ends up being close to the same. BTW bobo try spiking the parking brake and releasing immediately after it will give you a more controled slide . also if you want to try being a secret service driver find an empty parking lot and get going in reverse about 40-50 mph then turn the wheel all the way around as fast as you can then slam on the brakes you should do a complete 180 with practice. this all has to be done in about a sec try and find a place on the wheel to hold one hand so that you can almost turn it all the way in one motion. after you complete the 180 you would normaly get right into drive and get out but watch how fast you do that you'll drop your tranny in no time. I know cause I used to go in rev at about five mph then coast back in neutral rev it up then drop it into drive hehe not a good thing at all in about 3 months I had a tranny that shifted like a manual it would even get tire going into second it was fun to drive my new power shifting tranny till it wouldn't shift at all then It was fixed and I lost my licence and sold my car. I wish I had some pics of my interior cause I took out alot of the dash panels and painted them white to match my car maybe I did take some I'll go look and might post them later.

na it wont hurt any thing but your tire tread. I did the same sort of thing on a snowy parking lot but instead of braking keep on the gas and make sure it's a long parking lot cause you slide through a 720 200 yard spin I did it once with ppl hanging out my sunroof. but I lost my licence because the local judge is a fat bastard. I got a speeding ticket and a wreckless driving at the same time. which I could have got out of the wreckless driving cause you can't have two moving violations at the same time I didn't find that out till later. But thoese two tickets gave me too many points and I went and took my point exame to remove two of them. So after I passed that the guy told me I had my licence back well I was getting my car back from it's tranny fix and when i pull out and this dumb old lady wizzez pass me and I just tap her tire poping it. No big deal the cop wasn't even going to site me but when he pulls up my licence it shows it's suspended! Now all the paper I recieved led me and my parents to believe I lost my licence due to excessive points. Wrong it was an automatic suspension for excessive speed 25mph over speed limit So of course I plead not guilty I wouldn't have been driving if I had known it was suspended the judge didn't care and simply said you were driving on a suspension 1 year suspension is your charge on top of the 90 days. Damn commonwealth states Judge-> :buck :aug2: <-ME!!!

handling

I agree! I thought mine handled bad until I recently increased my air pressure to 36psi per tire from about 26psi. Without saying, it handled terrible on turns beforehand to the point of displeasure with the vehicle and it came that way from the dealer. I assumed they delivered the vehicle with the tire pressure correct, but I was wrong. To sum it up the Max is a great handling machine.

You are close, but not quite correct. The 92-94 SE Maxima had 190 hp @ 5600 RPM and 190 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM
