is this worth it?

I found a 1990 240sx hatchback with 176000 miles and a motor with a bad main bearing. it is fully loaded with a 5-speed.it has a dent in the passenger fender and a few dings here and there. it is fully loaded with a 5-speed. inside is nice except the driver seat is ripped. the spoiler brackets are rusted to nothing. me and my cousin are thinking about it as a project car. the owner owes $800 to the dealer and told them to come get it but they won't pick it up. I called the dealer and offered him $100 and he said it's mine if I want it.

is it worth it?
I figure I could get $100 out of the parts if I had to.

Re: is this worth it?

Sounds like a good deal! Make sure you'll be able to get all the paper work though. If the dealer sells it, i think it will be a lien sale but theres a certain amount of time before the dealer can actually sell the car to you.
Make sure its legit. Or you might have a hard time transfering the title.
Overall, sounds like a good deal.

Re: is this worth it?

well they haven't made payments to the dealer in probably a year. they want $100 for it. but since the dealer said they want $100 for the title I'll just pay them and take the car when they are not home since they have no right to it. I don't care if it takes awhile to transfer the title as it needs work anyways.

Re: is this worth it?

well I forgot to post I went out to look at it again. the oil has coolant in it. now I'm thinking that is whats wrong with it or thats what caused it to mess up the bearings. they said they don't know for sure it was the bearings. so hopefully it's just a bad gasket.

Re: is this worth it?

are you sure its coolant, cuz my sis had like some brownish oil, and it turns out its just cuz none of the stuff could get burned off, she didnt drive it that much, so it was all rusty and what not, now its fine, just change the oil, and youll be good to go.

Re: is this worth it?

I wish but it's green anti freeze and the oil is over full and there is no coolant visable in the radiator.

Re: is this worth it?
